Minecraft Forge Mod Loader 1.18.1/1.17.1/1.16.5/1.15.2/1.12.2 is a common word that comes up every time we install a mod for the Minecraft modification API. For the most part, as the most popular and widely used mod loader, Minecraft Forge is constantly updated and gets a lot of attention from the mod community, or so they believe.

How to install Minecraft mods with Minecraft forge

Extract the mod file, if necessary, by right-clicking on the file or folder and selecting Extract. This new file will be saved in a new location under the same folder path
Copy the mod file by pressing Ctrl+C (You’ll know it’s the right mod file, as it will have a .jar extension)
Open Minecraft from your desktop or Start menu
Select the latest release
Find your Minecraft installation folder by clicking on the green arrow on the right side of the game directory. You should see program files for Minecraft
Open the Mods folder
Inside the Mods folder, click your mouse in any blank space and press Ctrl+V to paste that mod file you had copied earlier

Now that your new mod is installed, you can start playing it. Look for the name of the mod in your menu, and remember that it may not be the exact mod name you call it.

How to download

Go to the Minecraft Forge download page.

Quick tip: Minecraft Forge requires Java, so install that before beginning the download.You’ll see two download links: “Latest” and “Recommended.” Pick “Recommended,” as it has less bugs. Use the chart under “Minecraft Version” on the left to ensure you’re downloading the version of Forge that corresponds with your current version of “Minecraft” and the mods you’re running.Once you click the installer link, you’ll be shown an ad. Wait a few seconds, and then click “Skip” in the top-right corner. Once you click it, the download will start.

Open the Forge installer, and give the app the necessary privacy and access permissions when requested. If you’re on a Mac, you might need to go into your computer’s “Security & Privacy” settings to give it permission to open.
In the window that appears, select “Install Client” and click “OK.”
Forge will connect to the internet and download all of its data. Once it’s done, a pop-up message will indicate Minecraft Forge has been successfully installed. Click “OK” to continue.
Open the Minecraft Launcher.
Open the drop-down menu next to “Play,” which lets you pick what version of “Minecraft” you want to open.
In the options that appear, click and select “Forge.”
Now press “Play.”

Quick tip: A pop-up message may appear asking the user to accept that the version has been modified and may not support the latest player safety features. This is standard and you should approve it.
After the game has loaded, check that the “Mods” option has appeared. This signals that you’ve installed Minecraft Forge successfully.
