Better Foliage mod 1.16.5, 1.12.2 for minecraft is a Forge mod that will make your Minecraft worlds more impressive, mainly by improving how vegetation looks. It is fully compatible with other visual enhancement mods (Optifine, Shaders Mod, Colored Lights Core).
The mod is 100% cosmetic and client-only. It has no effect on the server, and Better Foliage features in the world can not be interacted with.
Usage & Requirements
To use the mod, just drop it into the mods folder of your installation, like any other Forge mod.
All features of the mod can be switched on/off independently, and customized to your own taste with a rich configuration GUI (opened with F8 by default). Tooltips will tell you what each option means.
Better Foliage 2.x needs Java 8.
First working version for 1.16.5!
BF 2.5 for Forge requires Kottle to work (a replacement for Forgelin). Please read on for information about Mixin.
Tested with Forge 28.1.115, Optifine 1.14.4 HD U F5, and Kottle 1.4.0.
Known issues:
– Extra Leaves on snowed leaves look a little bit funky (Z-fighting)
– Short Grass might look a bit too dark with certain shaders and settings
– The block types configuration is being reworked. As of right now, there is no way to customize it manually. If a modded block is not supported, file a bug report for it.
Because Forge 1.14 is still a work in progess, there are a few extra caveats that apply.
– Forge has no configuration GUI yet like in previous versions. If you don’t like the default configs, you’ll have to edit config/betterfoliage-client.toml manually.
– IMPORTANT: Forge Installer launcher profiles have no support for Mixin (a coremodding tool) yet. As a temporary workaround, you can drop MixinBootstrap in your mods folder.
How to install:
- Make sure you have already installed Minecraft Forge
- Locate the minecraft application folder.
- On windows open Run from the start menu, type %appdata% and click Run.
- Place the mod you have just downloaded (.jar file) into the Mods folder /.minecraft/mods
- Launch Minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.
